The origins of the village are very old and during the period of Roman rule the city was one of the richest and most powerful empire.

Today, Pompeii is famous for the archaeological remains of the Roman city that was completely covered dal'eruption of Vesuvius in 79 A.D, and the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary, but also has beautiful beaches overlooking the Golfo of Naples.
